Saturday, April 16, 2016 is Husband Appreciation Day, an important day in the life of a marriage. Husband Appreciation Day is a time to show your husband how much he means to you. Most web sites announcing this day tend to look like another opportunity to sell gift items, but more importantly, this is a tremendous prompt to enhance your marriage relationship.
If you are currently struggling with adjusting to your husband’s retirement you might wonder how or why you would find space to show your regard for him. However, taking time to show him your appreciation may be the most significant act you can take to improve your relationship, and both of you will benefit from it.
Throughout your life you probably have seen that kindness is contagious. When someone does something nice for you, doesn’t that make you feel favorably to that person? Consider the possibility that focusing on making your husband happy increases the likelihood that he will naturally want to do the same for you.
Have you ever noticed when we show appreciation to someone for even the smallest effort, that existing tension or animosity seem to diminish or disappear? A Wall Street Journal article I read recently stated that “there’s a connection between employees’ relationships and their productivity levels.” The reason?
Happy marital relationships help people be more content, and when we are happier, we tend to be kinder, more energetic and more considerate of others. If you want to smile more, have more energy, and enjoy a compatible retirement marriage, you can begin to make that happen by showing appreciation for your spouse. It will be contagious, and it will help you discover new heights of a caring and loving relationship.
We all must remember that we can’t expect anyone to be perfect (ourselves included). That seems like good advice, and perhaps, the most important secret to a happy marriage—retired or not.
How will you spend Husband Appreciation Day? You don’t need gifts or special events. Kind words spread throughout the day could work wonders for both of you, and may become a habit you can’t quit!
Please share this article on Facebook, Twitter or however you share on the Internet. Husbands everywhere will love you!
